Guided alpine hikes, plein-air painting, botanical cocktails, and concerts in the trees — Breckenridge’s first-ever Wildflower Week celebrates the high country at its most colorful.

Breckenridge Wildflower Week makes its debut from July 2 through July 12, 2026 — an 11-day celebration timed to the peak of the town’s short, spectacular alpine wildflower bloom. Set throughout Breckenridge, from the Open Space trails to the Arts District, the week weaves together nature, art, education, and mountain-town fun into a single summer showcase.

Much of the programming is free: naturalist-led wildflower hikes, educational talks, and family-friendly activities anchor the schedule, while a handful of Breck Create workshops and classes are ticketed for those who want to dig deeper. Whether you come to learn the names of the blooms underfoot, paint a meadow in watercolor, or simply wander a trail at 9,600 feet, there is a way to join in.

Because the alpine growing season is so brief, this window represents nature putting on its best show of the year — columbine, paintbrush, and dozens of other species carpeting the meadows above town. Wildflower Week is Breckenridge’s invitation to slow down and take it all in.

Where the Wildflowers Are

Breckenridge sits surrounded by some of Colorado’s finest wildflower terrain. Popular viewing spots include the Cucumber Gulch Preserve, McCullough Gulch, the Sawmill Trail, the Burro Trail, and the open meadows around Boreas Pass. Naturalist-led hikes during the week make an easy introduction, and the town’s alpine gardens offer a gentler, close-to-town way to see the season’s color. Wherever you roam, stay on established trails — alpine plants are fragile and slow to recover.
