Breckenridge Bike Week June 22-26, 2016

Wednesday, June 22nd:

Colorado’s Bike to Work Day 7:30am-10:00am – Leave your car in the driveway and join fellow commuters on a morning pedal to work.  If the fresh air and bit of exercise isn’t enough to jumpstart you in the morning, join PANTS (Physical Activities and Nutrition Team of Summit) for an extra jolt with a complimentary pancake breakfast, cup of coffee, and entry into the bike-to-work-day raffle in the Blue River Plaza right in the heart of Breck.

LateNite @ the District – Check out the Arts District for Bike in Movie Night featuring American Flyers.

Breckenridge Arts District located at Ridge St. and Washington Ave. from 8 to 11 pm; Feature Film American Flyers starts at 9 pm. The kick-off to a free, weekly outdoor movie series at the Breckenridge Arts District featuring screenings of popular, cult and classic films, preceded by short films. Plus, campus studios will be open late each night with art-making activities for the whole family. Pre-movie kids activities on the lawn; blankets and lawn chairs encouraged; popcorn available on site.

Thursday, June 23rd:

10:00am-12:00pm:Yeti Beti Women’s MTB Skills Clinic: BEGINNER – Mountain bike skills workshop designed by women, for women. This clinic is designed for women that are newer to the sport of mountain biking or for those that are a bit tentative on singletrack. This clinic will focus on basic technique to help you ride singletrack with confidence and overcome small obstacles in the trail. The clinic is FREE! Please arrive on time with your bike, helmet, sunglasses, gloves, rain jacket, hydration pack or bottle, bike tools and tube. If you don’t have a bike, rentals are available at Avalanche Sports, Carvers, Mountain Wave and Alpine Sports. The ride will meet at the Breck Demo Days Expo area located in the North Gondola Lot at 9:40am and depart at 10:00am. 2:00pm- 4:30pm: Yeti Beti Women’s MTB Skills Clinic: INTERMEDIATE- Mountain bike skills workshop designed by women, for women. This clinic is designed for women that are comfortable on singletrack, but looking to overcome more advanced obstacles and improve there flow. Riders should be comfortable doing 15-mile rides. This clinic will foucs on finesse through switchbacks, conquering larger obstacles on the trail (manmade and natural) and efficient pedal stroke and posture for longer rides. The clinic is FREE! Please arrive on time with your bike, helmet, sunglasses, gloves, rain jacket, hydration pack or bottle, bike tools and tube. If you don’t have a bike, rentals are available at Avalanche Sports, Carvers, Mountain Wave and Alpine Sports. The ride will meet at the Breck Demo Days Expo area located in the North Gondola Lot at 1:40pm and depart at 2:00pm. Breck Cruisers – Join Breckenridge locals on a bike crawl through town. These themed community rides tour some of the best bars on Main Street. Visit their Facebook page to

find the latest themed bike ride. The ride will start from the Breckenridge Distillery Tasting Room by the Blue River Plaza at 5:30p.m.

Friday, June 24th:

Yeti Beti Woman’s MTB Advanced Ride 5:30pm–  Geared towards lady mountain bikers that are comfortable on single track and overcoming moderate obstacles such as rocks, roots and variable terrain. This will be a fun ride and not a clinic, so come out to meet other ladies in the community that share your love of the sport.

Saturday, June 25th

Group Night Ride:The group night ride will leave from the expo area at 6:30pm. We will head up Boreas Pass to Bakers Tank to warm up by a fire and roast s’mores. We will supply you with free night lights for your bike, but bring a headlamp or extra light if you have one. The ride is 6.5 miles to Bakers Tank on both pavement and dirt road. The best part: it’s all down hill on the way back to town! 

Breck Demo Days Expo –
Breck is excited to partner with Bicycle Village to host the 2015 Breck Demo Days. Come out and see the newest demos from Trek, Smith, Scott, HaiBike, SHIMANO and more! Free demos, group rides, self-guided rides, local trail info and kids activities will all take place in the Gondola North Lot. Strider Adventure Zone –  Kids and adults are welcome to take a spin around the Strider bike track located in the Expo area next to the gondola in town.  It’s hard to say which is better: No pedaling required or the fact that it’s free all day in the expo!

Discounts
When you demo a bike, you receive a coupon for a percentage off a bike purchase at Bicycle Village. This coupon can be used toward the purchase of any bike at Bicycle Village, it does not have to be the bike you demoed in Breckenridge.

$100 off any bike $1,000 or over
$250 off any bike $2,000 or over
$500 off any Project One Trek bike

Bike Exchange Program
There is also a bike exchange program. The Pro’s Closet will be on-site, and if you bring in your old bike – they will assess its value and give you a credit toward the purchase of a new bike. (Please note they will not give you cash for your trade-in.)

Location:
The event will be staged in the North Gondola Parking lot as you enter into town on Highway 9. There will be a designated entrance into the parking lot, look for the large Trek bus and taped-off areas.

Parking:
There will be plenty of available parking in the North Gondola Lot where the event is being held.

What to bring:
The expo will not require any money, but you will need a valid ID and credit card to demo bikes.

If you have a helmet, please bring it with you. If you do not have a helmet, you will be provided one.

Demo Areas:
There will be designated trails of varying levels around Breckenridge to try out all your demo options. Please do not take your demo bike out of Breckenridge to ride at another resort.

 

Sunday, June 26

Breck Demo Days – Cruise by theGondola North Parking lot and discover the bike expo, outfitted with free demo bikes ranging from Mountain to Road to Electric…boodie woogie woogie. Come see what’s new from top cycling manufacturers such as Trek, Shimano, and more to see the latest and greatest in bikes and components. While the cycling world may never agree what wheel size is the best (26″, 27.5″, 29″, 600c), all bike enthusiasts know the coolest bikes ride on twelves. That’s right, and we’ll have them there at the Expo if you haven’t seen them. Strider bikes are all the rage and you will become a believer after just one lap around the StriderStrider Adventure Zone.
